The 2010 Schwenkfelder Heritage Tour is rapidly approaching! The tour begins July 25th and continues through August 10, 2010. Twenty participants will walk where Schwenkfelder forefathers and mothers walked as they left their homes and came to Pennsylvania in the 18th century. They’ll tour Berlin, Dresden, and the city of Luther: Wittenberg, Germany’s most Eastern city: Goerlitz, Quedlinburg, Torgau, Magdeburg, Tangermünde and more. In Poland participants will visit monastery and castle ruins, Legnica (Liegnitz), Osiek (Ossig), Zlotoryja (Goldberg), Twardocice (Harpersdorf)! Along the Elbe river they’ll take passage on a river boat from Dresden to Meissen, then stop in small cities along the way.
SLHC’s Executive Director David Luz and SLHC’s Associate Director of Research, Allen Viehmeyer, have planned a most delightful experience for Heritage Tour participants. Margrit Kempgen from the Schwenkfelder Meeting House at Berthelsdorf Association in Germany will once again be their informative hostess and guide in Goerlitz!
Watch for future posts by Heritage Tour participants!
